Philip Sanderson

Philip Sanderson makes videos and installations; taking source material from the web’s pool of images, movies and sounds and then employing a variety of digital processes to remake and remodel the found material. in these new amalgams there is a hint of synaesthesia with sound and image having equal importance; for example in A Rocco Din an accordion performs a self dissection scored to its own playing, whilst in Fleshtones smutty downloads are transformed into lyrical piano music. In the most recent Chronocut series well know film scenes are sliced temporally and spatially revealing a new cinema of gesture.

"Oil and steel; fluid and metal . Engine Trouble celebrates and spoofs all those commercials for motor products in which liquid and iron entwine.  A shot of a Harley Davidson engine is digitally animated; to produce a swirling mass of metal. Using max/msp/jitter the movement of the image is scanned to produce the 'engine' for the soundtrack."
